Overall
Founded in 2005, IAF is a leading humanitarian organization fighting poverty in the country. IAF places special focus on working alongside poor girls and women because, equipped with the proper resources, they have the power to lift whole families and entire communities out of poverty. A decade of experience shows that when you empower a girl or woman, she becomes a catalyst, creating ripples of positive change that can lift-up everyone around her. That’s why girls and women are at the heart of IAF’s community-based efforts to improve education, health and economic opportunity for everyone. We also work with girls and women to promote social justice, respond to emergencies and confront hunger and climate change. Last year IAF worked in 4 Counties and reached 200,000 people
Humanitarian Action at IAF
IAF is a leading national humanitarian organization dedicated to fighting poverty in the republic of Kenya. IAF which started working in the Western region of Kenya has gradually expanded its operations in other parts of the country, has more than a decade of experience delivering emergency aid during times of crisis. Our emergency responses focus on the needs of the most vulnerable populations, particularly girls and women. Women and girls are at the heart of IAF’s emergency relief efforts because our experience shows that their gains translate into benefits for families and communities. Essential to IAF’S lifesaving humanitarian work is our commitment to help rebuild safer, stronger places that people call home. Our programs save lives by improving food security and protecting livelihoods; providing life-saving education; increasing access to safe portable water, improving sanitation coverage; promote social justice and open-up economic opportunities that make communities more resilient and less vulnerable to the forces that cause emergencies. In 2017 alone IAF worked in 4 Counties and reached close to 200,000 people around the country. At present, we have mounted several responses to recurrent floods and intermittent conflict, reaching approximately 75,000 people through our emergency programming actions.
